Grizzlies win. This was a tight game.
The story of this contest was all Parnham. The n00b scored 2 goals - one of them the game winner - unassisted. While we're still unsure of some of our new additions, we'll declare this one a keeper. The SL Trib did a decent write-up on Parnham.
Also. Wooooo for free tickets! The bounce-back and other promotions this weekend were awesome. First night was $5. You could go to Saturday's game with your ticket stub from Friday's game for $5. Then Sunday's game was free with your ticket from Saturday.
What a great weekend for Grizzlies hockey.
We're not seeing an official post game on the Utah Grizzlies' site yet. But the ECHL gamesheet is up, and our post game is below.
FIRST PERIOD
Vegas came out looking sharp.
We didn't know if the Grizzlies were going to be able to keep up.
Faceoff in the Grizzlies end.
Grizzlies pick up the first penalty.
Guthrie goes to the box for slashing.
Vegas capitalizes. 1-0.
Then, Utah gets another one.
Perry for interference.
It's cut short by a Vegas penalty.
Grizzlies penalty killed.
O'Keefe in net.
But nothing on the power play.
Hughes gets a tour for hooking.
Killed.
Vegas is dominating the ice.
The Grizzlies can barely get a shot off.
Barley at the blueline.
Vegas gets a penalty at the end of the 1st.
Grizzlies will start the 2nd with :50 left in it.
End of first. 1-0, Vegas.
First Intermission: We wanted ice cream, but it was $6.00. Whatevs.
SECOND PERIOD
Grizzlies start the 2nd with an abbreviated power play.
Nothing.
Then Vegas gets another penalty.
Grizzlies capitalize.
Maxwell ties it up. 1-1.
Points to Vlady and Perry on the assists.
Ouzas cleans out the net.
Hunter with the puck.
Vegas is everywhere.
Covering the ice like nobody's business.Fight for the puck.
May goes to the box for tripping.
Halfway through the Vegas power play, Parnham grabs the puck.
Unassisted, he picks up a shorthanded goal.
2-1, Grizzlies.
Though the lead doesn't last for very long.
Friesen goes to the box for tripping.
And Vegas ties it up. 2-2.
Brooks waits for the faceoff.
Perry zips around the net.
Vegas picks up a penalty at the end of the 2nd.
Utah will start the 3rd with a powerplay, again.
End of second. 2-2.
Second Intermission: Joni did her Adrian Denny impersonation. She sounded just like him.
THIRD PERIOD
Bartley and Brooks warm up.
Grizzlies start with a power play.
Can't do anything with it.
Maxwell with the puck.
Gannon takes a tour for high sticking.
Killed.
The boys watch from the bench.
Hunter gets a penalty for roughing.
This was such a punk call.
Hunter's stick gets caught up in some Vegas joke during some crazy play.
He tries unsuccessfully to get the stick out of Vegas's gear.
Vegas isn't even trying to untangle, he's just skating off with Hunter's stick.
So . . . Hunter pushes him down to get the stick out.
Whatever, ref.
Killed.
Faceoff. We love how everyone is staring at Orpik with this look that says:
Orpik, WTF?
End of 3rd. 2-2.
OVERTIME
4-on-4.
Less than a minute in, Parnham gets a breakaway.
He misses the first shot, then grabs his own rebound and sends it home.
So much awesome.
Game.

NOTES
Well, we figure we can stop calling Parnham a n00b at this point. He had 5 SOG last night with 2 goals coming out of the effort. The OT goal was pure skill. This kid is going to be a great addition to the team.
We listened to the post game last night as we took a rather snowy route home. Apparently Snatch sent Yo a text about the boys winning. Awesome.
