But, hey - At least this time we got to see some fire. It seems like the only constant with the Grizzlies over the last month has been transactions and losses. Yet, there were still some upsides to this match. First, we saw that Utah still knows how to play . . . kind of. The May-Galbraith-Romano combination was working well on the ice tonight with Romano picking up a goal and an assist. And blueliner Maxwell ended the game with a +3. It was unfortunate that the boys didn't play the full 60 required.
You can find the official post game at the Utah Grizzlies site, the gamesheet at ECHL.com, and ours is below.
FIRST PERIOD
Vegas draws first blood 1:36 into the period, but the Grizzlies answer almost immediately with a goal of their own: May from Romano and Maxwell tie it up, 1-1. Prokop drops the gloves with Vegas. There are a few more rumbles in front of the net; Yo says the boys are cranky because they didn't get their naps. To prove that point, Galbraith gets a penalty for Unsportsmanlike conduct.
End of first. 1-1.
SECOND PERIOD
Romano picks up an early goal 1:30 into the 2nd to place the Grizzlies in the lead; Galbraith gets the point on the assist for that goal. The Galbriath-Romano-May line is all over this game. Both teams do a good job of staying out of the box this period. However, late in the period, May takes a tour for high sticking, and Vegas is able to capitalize, tying up the game at 2-2. Beljo answers the Wranglers' goal with one of his own at 15:49. Parnham is the only assist on the Beljo goal.
End of second. 3-2, Grizzlies.
THIRD PERIOD
Vegas scored at 1:46 into the 3rd to tie up the match at 3-3. The Grizzlies didn't bother to show up for this period. Those who did weren't able to stay out of the penalty box. The last two goals of the game were Vegas power play goals. Gannon goes to the box for holding, and Kinasewich joined him 30 seconds later on a cross-checking minor. Vegas scores on the 5-on-3. Maxwell takes a tour for hooking, and Vegas makes it 5-3. Utah can't seem to keep out of the box long enough to mount a comeback. Vegas is allotted a penalty shot which, thankfully, O'Keefe is able to stop. Grizzlies get a 5-on-3 chance with :15 left to play but aren't able to capitalize.
Game.
5-3, Vegas.
No Stars of the Game from Utah.
To better luck (work) in Alaska.
Go Grizzlies!
