Call ups, trades, and slew-footing

So long, farewell, JP Lamoureux! At least until we see you again. You've been called up to the Abbotsford Heat to back up Matt Keetley. The regular goaltender, Leland Irving, tweaked his knee during a game on Monday. ("Tweaked" was his coach's word. I probably would use the more technical term of strain, unless it was a muscle, then it would be a sprain, but that might seem picky.)

Former Grizzly, Vladimir Nikiforov, was acquired from the Florida Everblades by the Bakersfield Condors. Best of luck to you, Vladimir, except (of course) when you play the Grizzlies!

Does anyone know what "slew-footing" is? Mitch Versteeg of Kalamazoo was suspended and fined for this, but I don't know what it is, but it sounds funny.

Here's some news relating to our NHL affiliate, the Calgary Flames. Craig Conroy is playing in his 1000th NHL game tonight. Almost half of those, 498 games, have been played for the Flames. I don't know about you, but 498 games seem like a lot to put your body through, not to mention 1000! Here's another fun article about Craig. Go Flames!

Marian Hossa will miss a few weeks with an injury. There is your random NHL news of the day. Actually, it's pretty big news because he's been pretty healthy lately and doing well with Chicago

Heads up: Friday November 19 is Maverik “Pack the House” night. Tickets are $5 if you show a receipt from Maverik.

Best of luck, JP!

Slew-footing is when a player kicks another player's feet/skates out from under him purposefully. Saw a game last season where Ovie did it - that's all the announcers talked about the rest of the time. Blah.
