Game Day: Bakersfield Condors

The Grizzlies are in Bakersfield today.

While Bakersfield totally squashed the Grizzlies 5-0 in the home opener, Utah has had the time to gel over the last few weeks. The Grizzlies have collected at least a point when being within one goal of their opponents. They stand at a 3-0-2 unbeaten streak in single goal difference games, and Goalie Engelage is fifth in the ECHL in save percentages, touting a 0.927, so the Grizzlies will definitely be looking to him to make some big saves in the Golden State.

On the other hand Bakersfield has a winning record of 4-0-0 when leading after 2 periods, so the Grizzlies will have to keep on top of their game to stay ahead. The Condors also picked up defenseman Brandon Milnamow from the Idaho Steelheads, as we mentioned yesterday, to help pick up their back end as they have recently gone winless in 5 straight games. Adrian Denny put it in his game day blog "In the Condors case, they have got to be especially cranky after being shutout twice and outscored 15-2 in three games Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Stockton last weekend."

Yep. That would make just about anyone cranky.

It sounds like the Crowders/Carpentier line might be back together for this game, which we're excited to see after their performance in Las Vegas last Friday. Those boys can definitely score, now we look to the Grizzlies to focus on keeping the other team at bay after they grab a lead.

Puck drops at 8:00pm MST. Pregame starts at 7:40.
