What to do in the summertime?

Ah, life without live hockey: this is what hell must be like. Particularly since ice couldn't last down there . . .

If you haven't seen this already on Puck Daddy, we've decided to post it here since it was in the ECHL. The Royals and the Cyclones got into a line brawl this Sunday at the end of Game 5 of their playoff series. Apparently it resulted in almost an hour's worth of penalty minutes, some suspensions and fines. We found it on YouTube and have posted it below. The narration on this is all class (sarcasm intended), so consider yourself forewarned if you watch with the sound on.

Kind of old news, but as we haven't posted it yet: Ryan Kinasewich will be headed to the KHL next season. It looks like he will be joining the Medvescak Zagreb and playing with former Grizzlies defensman Andy Sertich. Snatch is scheduled to arrive in Croatia at the end of July. The kid's been a Grizzlies' icon for last 5 years, so we're really sad to see him go. Best of luck, Ryan!

If you want to watch Andy and Ryan in the KHL, you can usually find live feeds of the games on ChannelSurfing.net. Not to mention, one of our bloggers is currently living in Italy, so we're thinking a trip to Croatia might be in order when the season starts . . .

And speaking of our blog, over the summer we plan on adding some additional bloggers to our staff. If you're interested in writing for us, feel free to send an email to grizzblog@gmail.com.

Also during the summer, we hope to get pictures from the rest of the season up to our Flickr account, as well as updating our social networking accounts at Twitter and Facebook. We'll post updates as we work on getting those in order.

And remember: while WE might be slackers, you can always go read Adrian Denny's summer blogs which he posts every Friday.

Here's to 2010-11!

Utah Grizzlies News and Updates.

There have been a couple of really decent articles about the Grizzlies in the local news and around the web, so we decided to list them for you.

The SL Tribune did an article about the Grizzlies' success and the call-ups the team has undergone recently: Grizzlies cope with success.

Speaking of call-ups . . .
Old news, but the Deseret News did a nice article on Kinasewich and his call-up to the AHL.

Also regarding Kinasewich, Channelsurfing.net is going to run the feed of the AHL game Rochester vs Hamilton tonight. So if you miss watching Snatch in action, you can watch him online.

Also, if you're a Serty fan, you can watch KHL games in the morning on Channelsurfing.net.

And to catch up with some old faces, it sounds like Caria has recently decided to leave the Everblades in favor of going to university. Florida has suspended Caria to retain his rights, but Caria had been thinking about leaving the ECHL to go to school even while in Utah.

That's all for now . . .

Go Grizzlies!

Mitch O'Keefe signed and some other stuff

Looks like the Grizzlies did sign another goalie: Mitch O'Keefe. You can check out his stats on the ECHL.com website from the 08-09 season with the Elmira Jackals, and we might be able to get up some pictures of him at practice later - that is if we got any specifically of him.

You can check out the official press release at the Grizzlies site for additional details.

Also, the Grizzlies Live radio show is back starting tomorrow night at 7 pm. You can go down and check it out at Ruby Tuesdays live or listen in from home on 1230 KJQS. Colley, Snatch, and Li'l Corey (just kidding) - er, A.J. Perry are the scheduled guests.

*Re: our We Don't Get It post: If anyone knows why there's Hamburger Helper in that picture, let us know and we'll give you cred - we just can't remember when or why that occurred.

Grizz dropped both preseason games, but we're still looking to see how the team's going to shape up in the regular season. The n00bs are looking pretty good on the ice and we saw some good contributions from them in the preseason, so we're happy regardless of the losses.

Don't forget to check out all the Training Camp podcasts at the Grizzlies site. Some good stuff in there! Sounds like today's podcast was the last of the series.

And we have to give major props for the mini plans for tickets that the Grizzlies offer. This is an awesome idea if you don't already have season tickets. Check out the 12 and 6 packs: you're saving at the very least $12, which is the cost of an additional game - or two if you're a student. Or the cost of your snacks, chuck-a-pucks, or earplugs and asprin (yes, they do sell them at the E-Center). You get to pick which games you go to (so if you really hate Idaho or love Victoria, you can lock it in for every game) AND you don't have to wait in line and miss the face off. We've done this before and know exactly how damn annoying it is watching that first (and sometimes second) Grizzlies goal of the game on those tiny screens by the box office. Seriously, mini plans = awesome. Check them out.

PuckDaddy.com was all over this clip of Andy Sertich's new team scoring in the Croatian leagues. Nice goal, fun to see it getting some play.

That's all for now. Should have more pics and vids up from practice later.

Go Grizzlies!
