ECHL All-Star Game Review

Okay, we're a little late with this one, but considering we run our lives on the motto "better late than never," nobody should be surprised.

The ECHL All-Star festivities took place January 19-20 in rainy Ontario, California . (We’d make Ontario “Rain” jokes, but that would be too easy. Besides, they’re not Idaho.) Despite the rain, there were good-sized crowds at the Citizen Bank Arena. The Skills Competition on the 19th drew 4,368, and the actual game the next night boasted attendance of 7,615. Well, eventually. Rumor has it that people in the Ontario area think they will melt if they go out in the rain.

For several of the players, it was their first time playing in an All-Star game. Twenty two of the 42 players were rookies in the ECHL. Most of them didn’t really know what to expect. Ontario defenseman David Walker found the lack of hitting a little different. Considering the pounding he’s used to taking (and handing out), he commented, “I guess it’s like playing hockey in Europe.”

As you probably know, the Grizzlies had three players participating – AJ Perry, Vic Bartley, and Ryan Kinasewich. (Or Kisandwich, as he was called a few times by the XM radio announcers. They eventually figured it out.)

The skills competition was up first. All three Grizzlies participated in the Ice Town Breakaway Relay, and Ryan Kinasewich went 4-for-4 in the MeiGrey Group Accuracy Shooting Competition. Doesn’t get much better than that. In fact, that had never been done before in the history of the ECHL skills competition. Nice job, Snatch! We want to know if there’s an individual trophy for that. Anyway, the guys helped the National Conference to an 11-10 win over the American Conference. Go Grizzlies!

The report from Ontario sounded like a good time was had by all. When the players weren’t shooting or skating, they were catching up with guys they’d played with, or meeting new people. The Reign’s Peter Lenes talked about how a lot of the conversations were about mutual acquaintances, and how it seemed the players always knew a guy someone else knew too. "Everyone's connected somehow," Lenes said. "Talking to the guys, getting to know everyone. It's kind of fun." (There’s a Kevin Bacon joke in there somewhere.) Lenes, who is so short he’d have to stand on a sheet of paper to kick a duck in the butt (yes, that’s shorter than Vlady), represented his team in the 1-on-1 puck relay competition. He said his strategy for the event was to not get confused. It must have worked, because he won the competition and got a point for the National Conference.

The next day was the ECHL Hall of Fame Luncheon, complete with an appearance by the Kelly and Stanley Cups. Check out the interview the Reign’s blog guy – Jared Bond - did with Stanley Cup Keeper Phil Pritchard. We don’t know if any of the Grizzlies in attendance had their picture taken with it (or touched it), but we do know it wasn’t the first time seeing it for AJ Perry – his brother Corey won the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007.

That evening was the All-Star Game – the big event of the festivities. American Conference Captain JC Saywer of Toledo started thet night off by tripping and falling near the bench. It kind of highlighted his night, as he was held off the score sheet entirely. Not his usual gig – he currently leads all ECHL defensemen in scoring this season.
Sawyer wasn’t the only one who wasn’t sure what he was supposed to do, as is kind of typical for All-Star games. By the end of the first, AJ Perry was the first Grizzly to get on the score sheet with an assist, the American Conference led 3-2, and some guy named Kisandwich had made an appearance.

The second period started with fan favorite Peter Lenes from Ontario scoring a goal to tie the game. The crowd went nuts. When asked if he was aware the crowd was going crazy for him his response was "Yeah, it was awesome. Some of the guys on the bench were teasing me, they thought it was pretty funny.”
The National Conference pulled out in front in the second as things picked up, assisted by two points (1G, 1A) from Grizzly Vic Bartley. The American Conference wasn’t done though, and came back to tie it in the third. The game ended up in a shootout with the American Conference taking the win 10-9. Idaho’s Evan Barlow was voted the MVP of the game.

Ontario’s Greg Hogeboom, who we just like because his name sounds like a Harry Potter character, talked a little bit about his experience. "I'm not really the skills competition or All-Star Game type," he said "I'm more of a regular season player. It was great to see some of the guys who have All-Star skill. The experience has been a very good one."
Everyone seemed to agree that a great job was done by the Ontario Reign in hosting this All-Star Game. "We have a lot of respect for our organization and our team, and we didn't want to embarrass ourselves or the organization," Ontario’s David Walker said. "Lenes being a fan favorite, it was nice for him to get a goal and keep the fans happy. The organization in Ontario, they went (over) and above. They treated us first-class."

Click here for the ECHL All-Star Game sheet.
For more fun and insight on the All-Star festivities, see the Ontario Reign’s website.

Congratulations to Utah’s All-Stars – AJ Perry, Vic Bartley, and Ryan Kisandwich - er, Kinasewich!

Game Day in Alaska and other Grizzlies news

Game today: Alaska Aces.

Galbraith makes his first return to Aces ice tonight with the Grizzlies since the trade on December 27, and Evan Kotsopoulos plays his first game against Utah as an Ace. Both Utah and Alaska will receive some help tonight with players returning from the AHL. Dylan Hunter will meet the Grizzlies in Alaska, and the Aces should be expecting Mike Walsh from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. Former Grizzlies forward Walsh was part of the recent trade with Alaska and was released from his PTO with Grand Rapids yesterday. We also heard a rumor that Bartley could make an appearance with the Grizzlies soon.

AJ Perry will stay in Utah due to illness and keep newly acquired left wing Patrick Asselin company, according to Yo's game day blog. And apparently, Tom May is the boy to watch for tonight as he scored 3 goals in 3 November games against Alaska.

On Monday, Alaska snapped Victoria's double digit winning streak in the last match of their 3 game series with the Salmon Kings. The Aces are looking for another win to build on as the Grizzlies try to stop their own recent losing streak.

While we're not looking for excuses - we definitely think the boys need to show up to play - we're wondering if the illness/flu that's been going around has affected performance at all.

Either way, it should be a good game to watch if Utah decides to play.

Don't forget to read Denny's official game day blog.

Utah Grizzlies visit St. George

The Grizzlies stopped by the grand opening of the new Dixie Igloo Ice Center in St. George on their way to Vegas last week. The new Dixie Igloo is the first ice rink to be built in St. George and was designed to meet NHL-rink regulations.

Arriving in the evening, the Grizzlies had a team skate with fans and signed autographs before continuing to Vegas.

Other News

USANA is now the Utah Grizzlies' official supplement provider. Not really interesting news, but news nonetheless. Maybe they can help with the illness going around . . .

We missed Grizzlies Live again this week. Fail.

Luck, Grizzlies!

Hockeyworld!

If you're a hockey fan, you're probably pretty excited about the next few days. Not only are there four Grizzlies games coming up, but there's a lot going on in other hockey news too. First up, let's start with the Grizzlies...

The boys are meeting up with the Victoria Salmon Kings twice at home (Wednesday, Dec. 30 and Thursday, Dec. 31), followed by a break on New Year's Day. After that, it's Vegas, baby, for two games against the Wranglers (Saturday, Jan. 2 and Sunday, Jan. 3). Looking for something fun to do for New Year's? How about a road trip to Vegas?

The Salmon Kings have a home winning streak of 11 games right now, so the Grizzlies should be happy to be playing them at the E Center right now. The Grizzlies' home win streak currently stands at... one game.

Wooooo!

The Wranglers have won their last three games, including a midnight match up with the ISH, which proves nothing, except maybe that everyone in Idaho has a bedtime of 8:30 pm.

Now let's take a look at some other hockey news...

ECHL
  • The ECHL announced their National Conference All-Star roster today. Two Grizzlies are included on the roster - AJ Perry and Ryan Kinasewich. The ECHL actually lists Vic Bartley as being from Utah as well, but he was recently called up to Bridgeport of the AHL. Maybe he'll be returned in time for the All-Star game. Kinasewich has been chosen as a starter.
  • Goaltender emergency? Just stick a fan in pads.
  • Supposedly, the Grizzlies received Brock Wilson in a trade from Toledo today. Is anyone surprised? (We hear the next trade is Grizzbee and a Kinasewich jersey for the Hanson brothers.)
AHL
  • The Sound Tigers have put together a highlight reel from 2009:

Is it just us, or does it look like some of the fights were choreographed to the music?

NHL
  • The New York Islanders beat the Columbus Blue Jackets last night in a shootout (final score 2-1). Columbus had just come from a win over Detroit, but may have been a little distracted, considering this happened during the game:

At least it wasn't an octopus.
  • We would be completely remiss if we didn't mention the NHL Winter Classic. It's a regular season NHL game that is played outdoors. This year's game will be the Boston Bruins hosting the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park. That's right, they've built a rink there for a day or two. That's coming up on January 1st at 11:00 am if you're in the mountain time zone, and it will be on NBC. If you haven't watched it before, you're missing out. Tune in to this hockey event and you won't be sorry.
  • And random story of the week - the Pittsburgh Penguins had a little trouble with the weather in Buffalo (sound familiar, Utah?) when their bus got stuck in the snow on the way to their hotel. No problem - the coaching staff jumped out and helped push the bus out. What, no players? "It was crazy seeing people outside in suits and ties trying to push a bus," goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury said. "I just put my big biceps on the bus, and it didn't take long after that." Teammate Matt Cooke interpreted the situation differently. "I'm sure his intentions were good," Cooke said. "But I'm not sure he even touched the bus." Any guesses on how many snowballs were tossed?
2010 OLYMPICS
  • Canada named their Olympic roster today for Vancouver 2010. No real surprises on who made the team, but a few on who was left off. Of course, when you have most of the NHL to choose from, we guess someone has to be cut. They'll be hard to beat.
  • USA is expected to announce their Olympic roster during the Winter Classic on Friday. There's another reason to tune in.
  • For some of the other country's rosters, click here. We just want to point out that every player on Latvia's roster ends in "s". (We're counting Gints Meija because of his first name.)
WORLD JUNIOR TOURNAMENT
  • If you have NHL TV, you can tune in to the World Junior Championships from Saskatchewan. (That's hard to spell.) This is an exciting tournament where you can see future stars of the NHL. USA Hockey's website has some great content, including live game logs and scoreboards.

No shortage of hockey this weekend. Or weather. Happy New Year!

Utah Grizzlies News: Trades, Callups, and Additions

So, the Grizzlies' lineup has undergone some massive change in the last 24 hours. To make it easier, we've made a list of those changes below

Basically, we lose 4 (Bartley, Stoflet, Dale, Hunter), and gain one (Romano).

Romano joins the Grizzlies from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers where he played 21 games this season. During the 2008-2009 season, Romano picked up 69 points (36 goals, 33 assists) in 65 games for the Petesborough Petes of the OHL. Not bad at all.

We're going to miss Bartley and Stoflet, who have been pretty stellar on defense for us over the past several games. Hunter's callup is really no surprise as he played in the AHL during 2006-2008, but we'll still miss the firepower.

Jason Dale is probably the one we'll miss the most here at GrizzBlog. We were just starting to cultivate an appreciation for his drive and constant effort on the ice. He really gave the game his all every shift, and we loved to watch him play. We hope this reassignment ends up being a good thing. Luck, Jason!

Fortunately (or unfortunately), we may be seeing both Evan and Jason in the Grizzlies' games this weekend against the Condors.

Luck to all!

Go Grizzlies!

Utah Grizzlies vs Ontario Reign Post Game 12/2/09

So, Grizzlies win.
But 40 minutes of this game was all Ontario.

Seriously. Utah gave up 3 goals within the last 3 minutes of the game. And if you look at the SOG for the 2nd and 3rd period, Ontario had twice as many as Utah. Ontario's Hogeboom, who's name sounds like a Harry Potter character, got a (magic) hat trick and tied the game late in the 3rd.

Talk about negating an amazing 1st period.

We're not even sure how to approach this one. All of the europhoria we felt after the first period dissipated halfway through the 2nd. Fortunately, Maxwell was there in OT to save the day.

It wasn't all bad for the Grizzlies. Kinasewich had 4 assists, Vlady had 3 assists, Hunter had 2 goals, and Perry, Bartley, and Parnham all had multipoint games. Utah had 7 goals in total for the night with 22 SOG and 5 of those goals occurring in the 1st period.

For the official post game, check out the Utah Grizzlies' site. The official gamesheet is up at ECHL.com, and our rant is below.

FIRST PERIOD

We knew we would come out strong, but we didn't expect this.
5 goals in the 1st period.

Hell, we're just going to list them and call it good since Ontario only had 2 SOG in the 1st.

1-0
Clarke opens it up on his first night back in the line.
Assists to Bartley and Kotsy.

2-0
Parnham picks up his 4th of the year.
Kinasewich and Perry with the assists on that one.

3-0
Hunter's first goal of the night.
Snatch's second assist of the night.

4-0
Hunter's second goal.
Assists to Snatch and Perry.

5-0
May gets his 7th of the season.
Guthrie and Vlady pick up the assists.

Oh, and May got in a fight somewhere in there, too.

Other than the lackluster hits, the Grizzlies looked like they were an AHL team competing against Ontario.
Not. Even. Kidding.

Incredible.

End of first. 5-0, Grizzlies.

SECOND PERIOD

Apparently it doesn't take much to upset the Grizzlies momentum.
Winning will do it.

Geez.

Ontario comes out strong.
3 goals in 3.5 minutes.
And one of those was a penalty shot.

What the hell happened?

Bartley gets one to stop the bleeding.
Parnham and Vlady get the assists on that.
But this is no where near the team we saw in the 1st.

End of second. 6-3, Grizzlies.

THIRD PERIOD

We're not even going to talk about this period.
Except . . .

Ontario = awe-inspiring.
Even if you hate them, any team that can come up with 3 goals in the last 3 minutes of a game is impressive.
Utah's defense crumbled.

We looked around the internet for some video footage of this but can't find any yet.
If anyone knows where we could find it, comment or email us.

What a rally for Ontario.

End of third. 6-6.

OVERTIME

We're sure by this point, Colley was already carving stakes for heads and the boys knew it.
Losing really wasn't an option.

Utah gets a power play, and Maxwell gets the game winner.
Points to Vlady and Snatch on the assists.

Game.
7-6, Grizzlies.

Stars of the Game
1. Maxwell
2. Hunter

NOTES

So, we were complaining to ourselves that we didn't say enough about our blueliners last week, and now we've got mixed reviews.

3 of the 7 goals were from Utah defensemen: Clarke, Bartley, Maxwell.
Which means our defensemen are amazing offensively.

However, 3 goals were allowed in the last 3 minutes of the 3rd.
What exactly does that say about our blueliners defensively?

We'll leave that to Colley and Curcio.

To a solid win on Friday.

Go Grizzlies!

Utah Grizzlies vs Las Vegas Wranglers Post Game 11/22/09

Grizzlies win.
This was a tight game.

The story of this contest was all Parnham. The n00b scored 2 goals - one of them the game winner - unassisted. While we're still unsure of some of our new additions, we'll declare this one a keeper. The SL Trib did a decent write-up on Parnham.

Also. Wooooo for free tickets! The bounce-back and other promotions this weekend were awesome. First night was $5. You could go to Saturday's game with your ticket stub from Friday's game for $5. Then Sunday's game was free with your ticket from Saturday.
What a great weekend for Grizzlies hockey.

We're not seeing an official post game on the Utah Grizzlies' site yet. But the ECHL gamesheet is up, and our post game is below.

FIRST PERIOD

Vegas came out looking sharp.
We didn't know if the Grizzlies were going to be able to keep up.
Faceoff in the Grizzlies end.

Grizzlies pick up the first penalty.
Guthrie goes to the box for slashing.
Vegas capitalizes. 1-0.

Then, Utah gets another one.
Perry for interference.
It's cut short by a Vegas penalty.
Grizzlies penalty killed.
O'Keefe in net.

But nothing on the power play.

Hughes gets a tour for hooking.
Killed.

Vegas is dominating the ice.
The Grizzlies can barely get a shot off.
Barley at the blueline.

Vegas gets a penalty at the end of the 1st.
Grizzlies will start the 2nd with :50 left in it.

End of first. 1-0, Vegas.

First Intermission: We wanted ice cream, but it was $6.00. Whatevs.

SECOND PERIOD

Grizzlies start the 2nd with an abbreviated power play.
Nothing.

Then Vegas gets another penalty.
Grizzlies capitalize.

Maxwell ties it up. 1-1.
Points to Vlady and Perry on the assists.
Ouzas cleans out the net.
Hunter with the puck.

Vegas is everywhere.
Covering the ice like nobody's business.
Fight for the puck.

May goes to the box for tripping.
Halfway through the Vegas power play, Parnham grabs the puck.
Unassisted, he picks up a shorthanded goal.
2-1, Grizzlies.

Though the lead doesn't last for very long.

Friesen goes to the box for tripping.
And Vegas ties it up. 2-2.
Brooks waits for the faceoff.
Perry zips around the net.

Vegas picks up a penalty at the end of the 2nd.
Utah will start the 3rd with a powerplay, again.

End of second. 2-2.

Second Intermission: Joni did her Adrian Denny impersonation. She sounded just like him.

THIRD PERIOD
Bartley and Brooks warm up.

Grizzlies start with a power play.
Can't do anything with it.
Maxwell with the puck.

Gannon takes a tour for high sticking.
Killed.
The boys watch from the bench.
Hunter gets a penalty for roughing.
This was such a punk call.
Hunter's stick gets caught up in some Vegas joke during some crazy play.
He tries unsuccessfully to get the stick out of Vegas's gear.
Vegas isn't even trying to untangle, he's just skating off with Hunter's stick.
So . . . Hunter pushes him down to get the stick out.

Whatever, ref.
Killed.
Faceoff. We love how everyone is staring at Orpik with this look that says:
Orpik, WTF?

End of 3rd. 2-2.

OVERTIME

4-on-4.
Less than a minute in, Parnham gets a breakaway.
He misses the first shot, then grabs his own rebound and sends it home.
So much awesome.

Game.
3-2, Grizzlies.

Stars of the Game:
1. Brett Parnham - not bad for a n00b!
2. Vic Bartley
3. Mitch O'Keefe

NOTES

Well, we figure we can stop calling Parnham a n00b at this point. He had 5 SOG last night with 2 goals coming out of the effort. The OT goal was pure skill. This kid is going to be a great addition to the team.

We listened to the post game last night as we took a rather snowy route home. Apparently Snatch sent Yo a text about the boys winning. Awesome.

Go Grizzlies!

Utah Grizzlies vs Las Vegas Wranglers Post Game 11/21/09

Another solid win for the Grizzlies.

Two goals for Vlady, multipoint nights again for Perry and Hunter, more amazing defense from our blueliners.
The Utah Grizzlies power play currently sits at the top of the league.
Almost another shutout, but Vegas got lucky.

We're a little slow with this one because we have so many pictures to choose from. But we did finally get this up for you. And we had some pretty decent seats (Thanks, Jen!), so we got some nice shots. And we didn't do anything during the intermissions, so we just left those out this time around.

The official Utah Grizzlies post game is up at their site, the gamesheet is at ECHL.com, and our postgame is below.

FIRST PERIOD

Grizzlies start the period a little shaky but quickly get past it.
We don't even know if Vegas had a chance.
O'Keefe with the save.

Utah picks up the first penalty.
Shea goes to the box for holding 3:39 in.
Killed.
Guthrie in the box.
Beljo takes a tour for tripping about 3 minutes later.
Killed.
Maxwell plays some defense.
Bartley with the puck behind the net.

Vegas gets a penalty.
Grizzlies can't capitalize.

35 seconds left in the 1st, Vlady's the first to draw blood. 1-0.
Points to Bartley and Beljo on the assists.

End of first. 1-0, Grizzlies.

SECOND PERIOD

Vegas picks up the first penalty of the 2nd for interference.
Grizzlies capitalize.

May knocks one in. 2-0.
Goal celebration.
Perry and Hunter pick up the assists.
The Grizzlies' power play rocks.

Kotsy and Schwarz go at it.
It was a short one, or we'd have video.
Dale in the corners.

Guthrie picks up the third goal of the night.
Points for blueliners Bartley and Maxwell.

Brooks goes to the box for hooking.
Killed.
Hunter takes the faceoff.

Hughes gets one in. 4-0.
Brooks and Bartley for the assists.

Vegas penalty.
Vlady puts another one away. 5-0.
Perry and Hunter get the points on this one.
Maxwell waits for the faceoff.

This period was all Utah.
Vegas didn't have a chance.

End of second. 5-0, Grizzlies.

THIRD PERIOD
Perry waits for the puck to drop.

Vegas starts the period with a penalty.
Grizzlies can't do anything with it.
Kotsy passes the puck.
We have no idea what's going on in this photo, but Bartley looks mortified. Beljo just looks bored.

Then by some stroke of strange luck, Vegas gets a goal. 5-1.

Then, they get another penalty.
Nothing.

And another penalty.
Nada.
Parnham takes the faceoff.

Grizzlies get a penalty.
Parnham takes a tour for slashing.
Killed dead.
O'Keefe and Friesen protect the net.

Vegas takes a penalty late in the 3rd.
Utah does nothing with it.
Whatevs.
Gannon and Van Buskirk watch from the bench.

Game.
5-1, Grizzlies.

Stars of the Game:
1. Vlady
2. Bartley
3. Perry

NOTES

Well, we think we are in for a tough game tomorrow. Vegas needs to pick up a win and they're going to come out with everything they've got.

But we think the Grizzlies can handle it.

Go Grizzlies!

Utah Grizzlies vs Las Vegas Wrangers Post Game 11/14/09

There was so much awesome in this game, we don't even know where to begin.

We could start with the utter domination of the Wranglers on the ice. Or with the multipoint nights for Hunter, Sixsmith, Bartley, and Perry. Or even with Caria's Gordie Howe Hat Trick (goal-assist-fight).

But really, we have to start with Kinasewich, who stole the show again. A hat trick with 2 assists to make Snatch the all-time leading scorer in Grizzlies history. UtahGrizzlies.com called this a storybook evening, and we couldn't agree with them more.

The official postgame is at the Utah Grizzlies site, the gamesheet is up at ECHL.com, and our version is below.

PreGame Introductions: The boys did a tribute to the armed forces. Very nice stuff.
Anthem picture.

FIRST PERIOD

Perry gets the first goal of the night 1:07 into the 1st. 1-0.
Points to Maxwell on the assist.

5 minutes later, Snatch picks up his first of the night. 2-0.
Points to Sixsmith and Perry for the assists.

Kotsy-Pavli-Kinasewich on the face off.

Vegas gets a penalty.
Grizzlies can't capitalize.

Not to worry.
Caria gives the Grizzlies their third.
3-0.
Points for the assists to Bartley and Guthrie.

Not sure who that is, but this is cool.

Friesen, Caria, Shea, and Kotsy on the ice.

Vegas gets another penalty.
Grizzlies power play is shortened when Kinasewich gets called for hooking.
Then May joins him for delay of game.
4-on-3.
Then, 5-on-3.
Killed.

So far, the game has been all Grizzlies. We hope it keeps up.

End of first. 3-0, Grizzlies.

First Intermission: We debated about getting food but were too lazy to leave our seats.
We don't even have any pictures or witty comments.
Whatevs.

SECOND PERIOD

Face off.

Vegas gets the first penalty of the 2nd.
Grizzlies can't do anything with it.

Then they get the first goal of the 2nd. 3-1.

Vegas takes another penalty.
And the Grizzlies take advantage of it.

Snatch scores his second of the night. 4-1.
Points to Hunter and Sixsmith as well.

2 minutes later, Perry gets another one past Ouzas. 5-1.
Points to Kinasewich for the assist.
Both boys just picked up 3 point nights.
Snatch just tied for the all-time leading scorer in Grizzlies history.
Perfection.

Colley is pleased.

Then Bartley and some Vegas joke go at it.
We didn't get video, but we got a decent picture.

Later, Kotsy gets a little Penny Candy.
Both boys go to the box for roughing.

Then some Vegas joke tries to run down O'Keefe.

Because O'Keefe is awesome. Check him out.

Vegas for the penalty.
And Utah for the goal.

Sixsmith tips it in. 6-1.
Points to Snatch and Bartley on the assists.

Kinasewich is now the all-time leading scorer in Grizzlies history.

History, folks. You witnessed it.
End of second. 6-1, Grizzlies.

Second Intermission: There's more cool stuff for Armed Forces night. We have nothing to show for it.

THIRD PERIOD

The boys take the ice.

This is the period of awesome fights.
But first . . .

Vegas gets a penalty.
Then Meyers shortens it up with his tour for interference.
Killed.

The boys watch from the bench.

Kinasewich gets a hat trick. 7-1.
Nice!
Of course we have to stick this in here:

His 16th goal and 2nd hat trick of the season.
Points to Hunter and Caria on the assists.

Then May decides to shake things up.
He and some Vegas punk get some time for roughing.

Few seconds later, Caria drops the gloves to round out his Gordie Howe Hat Trick.
You might want to keep the sound down on this one.
There's a lot of screeching from us - embarrassing.
Jen did an awesome job in capturing this.

Then Pavli starts it and laughs all the way to the box.
Another great job from Jen on the vid.

And Pavli cackles in the box as well.
Pavli and Caria were vastly amused with their work.
As they should be. As were we.
Awesome.

Snatch discussing the calls. He looks annoyed.

The fighters in the box.

To add insult to injury, Sixsmith knocks another one in. 8-1.
Kotsy picks up a point on that as well.

Vlady-Sixsmith-May face off.

Shea gets a penalty.
Vegas finally gets a goal. 8-2.
They're not even celebrating anymore.
Those poor bastards.

Vegas is down on the ice.
The Grizzlies are moving so fast they're just blurs.

Somewhere in there, Maxwell gets a penalty.
Killed.
And Vegas gets another goal.

But we're too busy comparing Pavli's and Stephenson's hair.
This is one contest Vegas wins.
But is that really much of a bragging point?

Game.
8-3, Grizzlies.

Stars of the Game:

1. Kinasewich
2. Sixsmith
3. Perry

NOTES

Hmm, do we really need to say more?

We don't think so.

We think the boys said it all for us.

Go Grizzlies!

*We actually ended up with a ton of amazing pictures due to Jen's camera, so we'll probably get the extras up on Flikr (or some picture hosting service) sometime this week.
